Walter Stacy Keach Jr., born June 2, 1941 in Savannah, Georgia, is an American actor whose career spans theatre, film and television since the 1960s. He first gained recognition in Off‑Broadway productions and is regarded as a prominent Shakespearean performer. Keach has earned four Drama Desk Awards, two Helen Hayes Awards and two Obie Awards for distinguished performance, and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play for Arthur Kopit’s 1969 production of Indians. He is also known for his acclaimed film role as a washed‑up boxer in John Huston’s Fat City (1972).
