Overview

Troy is a 2004 epic historical action film directed by Wolfgang Petersen and written by David Benioff. The film is an adaptation of Homer's epic and features an ensemble cast including Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, Diane Kruger, and Sean Bean. Set in the late Bronze Age, the story begins when Paris, a Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband Menelaus and sail with him to Troy. Upon learning of Helen's departure, Menelaus seeks the aid of his brother Agamemnon, who views the situation as an opportunity for power. Agamemnon assembles a massive force of Greeks, launching a seaborne expedition toward Troy. King Priam welcomes Helen upon her arrival, while his sons Hector and Paris prepare for the conflict ahead. The Greeks eventually launch their assault on Troy, with much of the battle centered around the actions of Achilles and his warriors. The film was produced in Malta, Mexico, and at Shepperton Studios in Britain.
