Batman Beyond is an American animated cyberpunk superhero television series based on the DC Comics character Batman. The program, which aired from 1999 to 2001, serves as a sequel to both Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures. It was created and developed by Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, and others. In some territories, the series is known as Batman of the Future. The narrative is set in a futuristic version of Gotham City where new villains have overrun the metropolis. The aging Bruce Wayne has retired from his role as the invincible Batman. The story follows a troubled teenager named Terry McGinnis who discovers the secret identity of the former Dark Knight. Fueled by remorse and vengeance, McGinnis forms an alliance with Wayne and revives the mantle of Batman to fight crime. The voice cast includes Will Friedle, Kevin Conroy, Lauren Tom, and Cree Summer. The series is recognized for its distinct futuristic setting and its continuation of the established animated Batman legacy.
