The fire occurred around 6:06 a.m. on December 31.

At around 6:06 a.m. on December 31, fire from inside the market house quickly spread to surrounding kiosks. Chau Long Market has 286 kiosks, with 110 households selling used clothes and handbags…

His house is about 200m from the market. Mr. Tai (living in Vinh My ward) said he was sleeping when he heard the sound of fire. He looked out the window and saw a red fire burning inside the market house.

“Because the market sells clothes and bags, the fire spread quickly. There was so much black smoke, many traders wanted to come and save their belongings but couldn’t get close because of the heat and smell of smoke” – Mr. Tai said.

Chau Doc City’s fire prevention, fighting and rescue forces quickly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire.

Goods such as old clothes and bags were pulled outside the kiosk by authorities and small businesses to be splashed with water to limit the fire.

The forces coordinated with small businesses and people to continue fighting the fire.

Chau Doc City Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police dispatched many specialized vehicles and dozens of firefighters to the scene. Currently, the fire is under control. Police forces, militia and self-defense forces… are approaching to extinguish smoldering locations.

Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Chau Doc City People’s Committee Lam Quang Thi directly went to the scene to direct firefighting.

Immediately after the fire, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Chau Doc City People’s Committee Lam Quang Thi and leaders of the People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Chau Doc City and Vinh My ward directly went to the scene to direct firefighting.
