At noon on December 17, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province said that the functional forces were urgently searching for two missing crew members in a cargo ship that sank in the province’s waters.
Previously, at 6:40 a.m. on December 17, the Border Guard Command of Thua Thien Hue province received information from the Region II Maritime Search and Rescue Center about the ship Gia Bao 19 sinking at sea.
The ship sank at about 4:15 a.m. on December 17, about 27 nautical miles northeast of Chan May Dong Cape, Thua Thien Hue province.
At the time of the accident, there were 9 crew members on board Gia Bao 19. Of these, 7 crew members were rescued by the Haian Park ship, the remaining 2 crew members are missing.
After receiving the information, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province contacted the Provincial Border Guard Command, Thua Thien Hue Maritime Port Authority, and Provincial Fisheries Branch to Implement rescue plans.
The Region II Maritime Search and Rescue Center dispatched the ship Sar 274 for search and rescue. The Border Guard Command of Thua Thien Hue province directs Squadron 2 to prepare forces and vehicles to launch when ordered and directs coastal border posts to deploy onshore patrols to be ready to organize rescue. Thua Thien Hue Maritime Port Authority has also mobilized forces to deploy rescue plans.
According to information from the Region II Maritime Search and Rescue Center, currently the Haian Park ship and Coast Guard ship 6006 are continuing to search for 2 missing crew members.
Currently in the waters of Thua Thien Hue, there are northeast winds at level 6 to level 7, gusts at level 8, and waves 3-4 meters high.
