Biography
Katherine Matilda Swinton is a British actress of Scottish descent born on November 5, 1960. Known for her work in both independent films and blockbusters, she has received an Academy Award and two BAFTA Awards, along with nominations for three Golden Globe Awards and five Screen Actors Guild Awards. Swinton began her career in experimental films, appearing in Caravaggio in 1986, The Last of England in 1988, War Requiem in 1989, and The Garden in 1990. She received the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for her performance as Isabella of France in the 1991 film Edward II.
