Louis Burton Lindley Jr., professionally known as Slim Pickens, was an American actor and rodeo performer born on June 29, 1919, in Kingsburg, California, and died on December 8, 1983. Beginning his career in the rodeo, he transitioned to acting, accumulating 166 known acting credits and appearing in dozens of movies and television shows. Throughout much of his career, he primarily played cowboy roles. He is particularly remembered for his comic performances in the films Dr. Strangelove, released in 1964, Blazing Saddles, released in 1972, and 1941, released in 1979, as well as for his villainous role in the 1961 film One-Eyed Jacks.
