Overview

The Love Boat is an American romantic comedy-drama television series that originally aired on ABC. The series was created by Wilford Lloyd Baumes and features the crew and passengers of the cruise ship Pacific Princess. The crew includes Captain Stubing, Gopher, Dr. Bricker, Isaac, and Julie, who try to please the passengers and sometimes help them fall in love. The series blends comedy and romance as it follows the passengers and crew on their travels to tropical or mysterious countries. The Love Boat premiered on September 24, 1977, and ended on May 24, 1986, with a total of three TV movies airing before the regular series and four specials and a TV movie airing after the series ended. The show's premise involves passengers searching for romantic nights aboard the ship, where the crew attempts to help them find love. The series stars Gavin MacLeod, Bernie Kopell, Ted Lange, and Fred Grandy.
