Edwards reworked the character of Willie Dante from his previous work on "Four Star Playhouse," where the role was initially portrayed by Dick Powell, who was the studio boss at the time. The credits of the first eighteen episodes of "Mr. Lucky" included a statement acknowledging Edwards' supervision of the production. Jack Arnold served as the producer of the series. The show aired from October 1959 to June 1960, with repeats continuing until September.
