Sarah Michelle Gellar, born April 14, 1977 in New York City, is an American actress, producer, and entrepreneur. She was first noticed at age four and made her screen acting debut in the television film An Invasion of Privacy (1983). Gellar earned a leading role on the teen drama series Swans Crossing in 1992, followed by her breakthrough portrayal of Kendall Hart on the ABC daytime soap All My Children from 1993 to 1995, for which she received the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. She achieved international recognition as Buffy Summers in the WB/UPN series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired from 1997 to 2003.
