The inaugural 1975 broadcast featured appearances by Alan Alda, Ann-Margret, Army Archerd, and Jacqueline Bisset. Throughout its history, the production has received recognition from the Primetime Emmy Awards. Specifically, the program earned nominations for Outstanding Production Design for a Variety, Reality, or Competition Series in both 1985 and 1986. Additionally, the show received a nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics in 1986, credited to Earl Brown.
