Sir Michael Caine, born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite on March 14, 1933, is a retired English actor known for his distinctive Cockney accent. He became a prominent figure in British cinema during the 1960s with breakthrough roles in films such as Zulu, The Ipcress File, Alfie, The Italian Job, and Battle of Britain. His performance in Alfie earned him an Academy Award nomination. Over his eight-decade career, he appeared in over 130 films, including Get Carter, Hannah and Her Sisters, Cider House Rules, and Inception. Caine is recognized as a British cultural icon and has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards. As of February 2017, his films have grossed over $7.8 billion worldwide.
