Cillian Murphy
Biography
Cillian Murphy, born May 25, 1976, in Douglas, Cork, Ireland, is an Irish actor known for his work across stage, film, and television. He began his professional acting career in Enda Walsh's 1996 play Disco Pigs, reprising the role in the 2001 film adaptation. Early notable film roles include 28 Days Later (2002), Intermission (2003), Red Eye (2005), The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006), and Sunshine (2007). His performance in Breakfast on Pluto (2005) earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He became widely recognized for playing Dr. Jonathan Crane / Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy and later starred in Oppenheimer (2023), for which he won an Academy Award. Murphy also gained acclaim for his leading role in the television series Peaky Blinders. His accolades include an Oscar, a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe.
