To prevent overpopulation, individuals are engineered to live only one additional year unless they can acquire more time. In this society, time functions as the primary currency used to pay for necessities and luxuries, with each person possessing a digital countdown clock displayed on their forearm. While the wealthy are able to live forever, the poor must struggle to survive. The story follows a young man named Will Salas who suddenly comes into a large fortune of time. After being accused of murder, he finds himself on the run from a corrupt police force known as the Timekeepers. The film features a cast that includes Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Alex Pettyfer, and Olivia Wilde. It was released in the United States on October 28, 2011.
