Overview

Cars 2 is a 2011 American animated spy comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. It is the sequel to Cars and the second installment in the Cars franchise. The film follows race car Lightning McQueen and his friend Mater as they travel overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix. While Lightning focuses on racing, Mater becomes entangled in a mission involving international espionage. The movie features the voices of Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine, and Emily Mortimer. It was directed by John Lasseter and Bradford Lewis. Lightning McQueen and Mater head from Radiator Springs to participate in the first-ever World Grand Prix, an event designed to determine the world's fastest car. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when Mater stumbles into a complex adventure beyond racing.
