Mark Harmon is an American actor. Born on September 2, 1951, in Burbank, California, he is known for his work in television and film. He has been involved in the production of the TV show NCIS, serving as a producer and executive producer since 2008. Harmon's character Leroy Jethro Gibbs was introduced in a guest starring role on the show JAG, and continued on the spinoff series NCIS. He has also appeared in a recurring role as Secret Service special agent Simon Donovan in a four-episode story arc in The West Wing. Harmon has been recognized for his work on NCIS, earning six nominations at the People's Choice Awards, including a win for Favorite TV Crime Drama Actor in 2017.
