Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa is an American actor, filmmaker, model, director, and writer. Born on August 1, 1979, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he is the son of Coni Lemke, a photographer, and Joseph Momoa, a painter. His father is of Native Hawaiian and Samoan descent, while his mother is of German, Irish, and Native American ancestry. Momoa was raised in Iowa. Known professionally as Jason Momoa, he has established a career in both television and film. He is recognized for his work as an actor and producer, with 92 known credits listed in his professional portfolio. He has been a prominent figure in various science fiction, fantasy, and action productions throughout his career.

Career overview
Momoa made his acting debut as Jason Ioane on the syndicated action drama series Baywatch: Hawaii, appearing on the show from 1999 to 2001. Following this role, he gained recognition for his portrayal of Ronon Dex on the Syfy science fiction series Stargate Atlantis, where he appeared between 2005 and 2009. He later played Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones from 2011 to 2012. His television work continued with the Discovery Channel historical drama series Frontier, where he starred as Declan Harp from 2016 to 2018, and the Apple TV+ science fiction series See, where he has played the lead role of Baba Voss since 2019.
In addition to his television career, Momoa has appeared in feature films. Since 2016, he has portrayed the character Arthur Curry, also known as Aquaman, within the DC Extended Universe. Throughout his professional life, Momoa has expanded his involvement in the entertainment industry beyond acting to include roles as a producer, director, and writer.
