Overview
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. The show is the first adaptation of the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise, which consists of high fantasy novels written by George R. R. Martin. The series ran for eight seasons between 2011 and 2019. The narrative centers on seven noble families who fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Friction between these houses eventually leads to full-scale war. While the noble families compete for power, an ancient evil awakens in the farthest north. The Night's Watch, a military order of misfits, serves as the primary defense between the realms of men and the icy horrors that exist beyond the Wall.
