Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. Based on the series of high fantasy novels titled A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, the series depicts seven noble families fighting for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Friction between the houses leads to full-scale war, while an ancient evil awakens in the farthest north and a neglected military order of misfits known as the Night's Watch stands between the realms of men and icy horror.
