Biography
William Billy Bletcher was an American actor born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on September 23, 1894, or September 24, 1894. Standing 5 feet 2 inches, Bletcher appeared on-screen in films and later television from the 1910s to the 1970s, including roles in Our Gang and Three Stooges comedies. He was also famous as a voice actor with a deep and strong-sounding baritone voice. He provided vocal performances for Disney, including Black Pete and the Big Bad Wolf in Three Little Pigs and its spin-offs, MGM, including Spike the Bulldog and occasionally Tom in Tom and Jerry, and Warner Bros., notably as the Papa Bear in Chuck Jones's The Three Bears. Bletcher passed away on January 5, 1979 at the age of 84.

For Disney, he voiced Black Pete and the Big Bad Wolf in Three Little Pigs and its spin-offs. For MGM, he voiced Spike the Bulldog and on some occasions even Tom in Tom and Jerry. For Warner Bros., he voiced many characters, most notably the Papa Bear of Chuck Jones, taking over the role of Papa Bear in The Three Bears after Mel Blanc had performed it in the initial entry. Bletcher is also known for his association with projects such as The Bugs Bunny Show and Halloween Treat.
