Get Smart is an American comedy television series that satirizes the secret agent genre. Created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, the show premiered on NBC on September 18, 1965. The production was developed at the request of Daniel Melnick, a partner at Talent Associates, to capitalize on the popularity of James Bond and Inspector Clouseau. Mel Brooks described the series as an insane combination of James Bond and his own style of comedy. The program stars Don Adams, Barbara Feldon, and Edward Platt, with Robert Karvelas also appearing in the cast. The plot follows Maxwell Smart, a spy working for the CONTROL agency, as he battles the evil forces of the rival organization known as KAOS.
