Overview

Three Blind Mouseketeers is a 1936 animated short film belonging to the Silly Symphonies series, drawing inspiration from the nursery rhyme Three Blind Mice and Alexandre Dumas and his 1844 novel The Three Musketeers. Released in the United States on September 26, 1936, the nine-minute family and comedy animation was directed by David Hand and Jack Cutting. The cast features Billy Bletcher and Pinto Colvig. As the title implies, the story centers on the three blind mice acting as musketeers who are in a quest for survival. Captain Katt sets a number of traps for them and pursues them, but the mice evade the traps while the cat sleeps, apparently without realizing it. Later, the blind mice get mixed up in a collection of bottles, which confuses Katt and causes him to be caught in his own traps. The cat eventually wakes up and begins chasing them unsuccessfully, thanks to the teamwork of the mice who continually outwit him.
