Overview
Outlaws is an NBC Western television series set in the Oklahoma Territory near Stillwater. The program aired a total of 50 one-hour episodes between September 29, 1960, and May 10, 1962. The production featured two distinct visual styles, with the first season filmed in black-and-white and the second season produced in color. The narrative centers on the efforts of U.S. marshals to maintain order in a lawless region. Barton MacLane starred as U.S. marshal Frank Caine during the first season, appearing alongside Don Collier, who played deputy marshal Will Foreman. Following the departure of MacLane after the first season, the cast underwent changes for the second season. Don Collier was promoted to the role of full marshal, and Bruce Yarnell joined the series as deputy marshal Chalk Breeson. The series remains distinct from the American Southern rock band of the same name, which originated in Tampa, Florida, and is known for musical contributions such as the 1975 song There Goes Another Love Song and the guitar composition Green Grass and High Tides.
