Rawhide is an American Western television series created by Charles Marquis Warren that aired on the CBS network. The program follows the experiences of trail boss Gil Favor and his foreman Rowdy Yates as they lead communal cattle drives across the Old West during the 1860s. Starring Eric Fleming and Clint Eastwood, the series depicts the drovers as they encounter various friends, foes, and dramatic adventures while navigating the trail. The show features a cast that also includes Paul Brinegar and Steve Raines. Rawhide originally premiered on January 9, 1959, and ran for eight seasons. For the majority of its run, the series aired on Friday nights until September 3, 1965. Following this period, the show moved to Tuesday nights for its final season, which concluded in late 1965. As the drovers crisscross the landscape, the narrative focuses on the challenges and encounters inherent in their work as they move cattle through the frontier.
