Cannon is an American detective television series that aired on CBS from March 26, 1971, to March 3, 1976. Produced by Quinn Martin, the program was the first of his productions to be broadcast on a network other than ABC. The series follows the investigations of the title character, Frank Cannon, a private detective who is also a husky ex-cop and a culinary enthusiast. Actor William Conrad portrayed the lead role throughout the series. Created by Edward Hume, the show features the protagonist as he solves various difficult cases. The character of Frank Cannon also appeared in two episodes of the series Barnaby Jones. Following the conclusion of the original series, a television film titled The Return of Frank Cannon aired on November 1, 1980.
