Dana Elcar was an American character actor. He appeared in approximately 40 films. His most notable role was on the television series MacGyver, where he played the character Peter Thornton, an administrator working for the Phoenix Foundation. Elcar initially appeared in the pilot episode of MacGyver as a different character, Andy Colson, but later made his first regular appearance in the 11th episode of the first season. Elcar was born on October 10, 1927, in Ferndale, Michigan, United States. He passed away on June 6, 2005, at the age of 77. Elcar's acting credits include a total of 142 known roles.
