Overview

The Six Million Dollar Man is an American science fiction and action television series that aired on ABC from March 7, 1973, to March 6, 1978. The program follows the adventures of Steve Austin, a former astronaut and USAF Colonel portrayed by Lee Majors. After sustaining severe injuries during a NASA test flight crash, Austin is rebuilt with nuclear-powered bionic limbs and implants at considerable expense. As a cybernetically enhanced secret agent employed by the OSI, Austin operates under the command of Oscar Goldman and is supervised by the scientist who created his cybernetics, Rudy Wells. Using the superior strength and speed provided by his bionic arm and legs, along with the enhanced vision from his artificial eye, Austin fights a variety of adversaries, including enemy agents, aliens, and mad scientists. The series also features performances by Richard Anderson, Martin E. Brooks, and Lindsay Wagner. The production chronicles the life of this test pilot turned intelligence agent as he utilizes his bionic enhancements to complete his missions.
