Overview

The television series CHiPs is a lighthearted look at the adventures of two Highway Patrol officers in Los Angeles. The main characters are Jon Baker and Frank Poncherello, two motorcycle officers always on the street to save lives. The series was created by Paul Playdon and Rick Rosner and starred Erik Estrada, Larry Wilcox, Robert Pine, and Paul Linke. CHiPs ran on NBC for six seasons and a total of 139 episodes. The series premiered on September 15, 1977, and the final episode aired on May 1, 1983. A reunion TV movie also aired on October 27, 1998. The show followed the adventures of the two officers as they worked to save lives in Los Angeles. The series consisted of 139 episodes over its six-season run.
