Early in his career, he appeared in commercials such as Fruit of the Loom and had guest starring roles in programs including Highway to Heaven and Santa Barbara. His breakout movie role was Seaman Ronald Rabbit Parker in the film U-571. On television, he portrayed JJ Pryor on the NBC drama American Dreams. In 2010, he joined the cast of the CBS police drama Blue Bloods, playing Jamieson Jamie Reagan, a New York Police Department officer and the younger son of the police commissioner, a role played by Tom Selleck.
