Biography
Seizō Katō (加藤精三) was a Japanese male actor, voice actor and narrator born on 14 February 1927 in Tokyo City, then part of the Empire of Japan. He was a member of the Tokyo Actor’s Consumer’s Cooperative Society (Haikyo) and accumulated more than one hundred credited performances across film, television and animation. Katō is especially remembered for providing the Japanese voices of Megatron and Galvatron in the original Transformers series through its sequel, Transformers: The Headmasters. He also performed ADR for the character played by Takeshi Katō in Akira Kurosawa’s film Ran after the original actor was injured. Katō died of bladder cancer on 17 January 2014 at a hospital in Itabashi, Tokyo, aged 86.
