The program, which is also known as Tetsuwan Atomu or Mighty Atom, premiered on Fuji TV on New Year's Day in 1963. It is recognized as the first popular animated Japanese television series. The narrative is set in the year 2000, when a character named Dr. Boyton constructs a super-robot in the image of his deceased son. Named Astro Boy, the robot possesses extraordinary abilities, including the power to swim across oceans, leap over mountains, and fly into space. Despite these capabilities, the robot fails to replace Dr. Boyton's son, leading the doctor to become dissatisfied and eventually disown his creation.
