Biography
John Dierkes was born on February 10, 1905, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Brown University and later worked as an economist for the United States Department of State. During World War II, Dierkes served with the Red Cross in Britain, where he met director John Huston. After the war, he worked for the U.S. Treasury Department, which sent him to Hollywood as a technical advisor for the film To the Ends of the Earth in 1948. Dierkes' tall frame and appearance led to a career as a character actor, often portraying villains or soldiers.
