Biography
Halle Berry is an American actress born Maria Halle Berry on August 14, 1966. She began her career as a model and beauty contestant, winning Miss Ohio USA in 1986 and placing as first runner-up in Miss USA 1986 and sixth in Miss World 1986. Her breakthrough film role came in Boomerang (1992) alongside Eddie Murphy. She gained further recognition for her performance in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999), for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Berry became one of Hollywood's highest-paid actresses during the 2000s and is known for roles in films such as Monster's Ball, for which she became the first African American woman to win an Academy Award for Best Actress, as well as Catwoman, Die Another Day, and the X-Men series.
