It initially aired at 10 p.m. before changes were made to its timeslot. In January 2010, NBC announced that the show would be shortened to 30 minutes and moved to 11:35 p.m. This timeslot had previously been occupied by The Tonight Show for nearly 60 years. The Jay Leno Show was a part of NBC's programming after Leno's initial retirement from hosting The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
