Hamilton police are asking for the Public's help as they investigate an incident involving 50 youths near lidge mall last night Mana danab Ballin joins us now and Mana you say one team was cut on the face and two others were Bears sprayed is that correct that's right Taz I'm actually Standing here right outside the McDonald's where the incident happened last night Hamilton Police say their officers are frequenting the area because there have been concerns in the past at this location it happened shortly after 8:00 p.m. last night Hamilton Police say they received a call from employees at the McDonald's At 970 Upper Wentworth about 50 youth who were no longer welcome at The Establishment our officers went in and upon the youth exiting uh bear spray was released into the air there was several fights between the youth that were engaged in the the group of 50 individuals a 16-year-old was wounded in The face police describe it as a slash and a 14-year-old was arrested and will face a charge for assault with a weapon the investigation is ongoing into the mace that was sprayed during the fights that broke out this video which chch news has not verified was shared anonymously on social media it shows What seems to be dozens of teens outside McDonald's two of them seem to be involved in an altercation and then another gets involved moments later one person runs away and is later sprayed by something while standing the drive-thru and then you see another altercation between two other people where another Person gets sprayed by something in the face to be clear this video has not been verified by Hamilton Police either we do know this isn't the first concerning incident involving a large group of Youth in Hamilton earlier this year there were a number of what police describe as swarming incidents at Festivals and fairs we have had lots of messaging about what we call swarming and those being attached to youths traveling in large groups so I do employ parents Guardians anyone to have those conversations with their youth if we are aware of a social media Meetup um at set event or a outdoor um Fair as you said uh please just let us know police say they are still investigating what happened here last night back to you
