Overview
The Hobbit is a trilogy of fantasy adventure films directed by Peter Jackson, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novel of the same name. The third and final installment, The Battle of the Five Armies, continues the journey of Bilbo Baggins and the dwarves following their encounter with the dragon Smaug. After Smaug attacks Laketown, the group finds themselves defending the reclaimed kingdom of Erebor from multiple claimants, including the men of Laketown and the elves of Mirkwood. As tensions rise, an army of Orcs led by Azog the Defiler marches toward Erebor under the influence of the dark lord Sauron. The fate of Middle-earth ultimately rests in Bilbo's hands as dwarves, elves, and men are forced to unite against the approaching threat. The film explores themes of courage, alliance, and the burden of leadership amidst growing darkness. It serves as the conclusion to the epic tale that began with An Unexpected Journey and continued in The Desolation of Smaug.
