Seven farmers in Egypt received payouts for improving natural capital

Exciting news from the heart of Egypt.

Seven farmers in Fayoum, Egypt, have been financially rewarded for enhancing natural capital through regenerative farming practices.

EBDA and SEKEM Group and have always been pioneers in sustainable agriculture, and now they’re leading the way with an innovative approach to rewarding farmers.

They are now using Landler to monitor the outcomes of their regenerative practices and to reward farmers for improving ecosystem health.

Though their outstanding efforts in regenerating their lands through biodynamic/organic farming, the seven farmers where able to achieve remarkable results. Landler monitored and quantified improvements in soil water holding capacity and above ground carbon storage. The improvements where turned into Natural Capital Units, which were then sold to investors.

This payout marks a significant step in recognizing and incentivizing farmers’ contributions to environmental stewardship, paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector in Egypt.
