Saving Yamuna Project: Aim and Achievements | Press Conference | Draupadi Dream Trust | #SangamTalks

by archytele

Initiated in 2000, the Saving Yamuna Project arose from a pivotal moment of recognizing the perilous state of cultural sites near the river Yamuna. Its objective, clear and urgent, targets the cessation of chemical pollution, particularly from industrial waste and untreated sewage water, and the enhancement of water management along the river. Spearheaded by collaborative efforts with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and local communities, the project strives for a selfless, apolitical endeavour, advocating for government action while refraining from contentious methods. With a focus on preserving cultural roots and tackling pollution, the project engages youth, promotes sustainable development, and advocates for the historical significance of Yamuna. Through community participation and continued advocacy, the project envisions a cleaner, culturally enriched Yamuna, ensuring its vitality for generations to come.

About The Mission of Draupadi Dream Trust:
Our mission is to revitalize the sacred Yamuna River, inspired by Draupadi’s legacy, and empower women and youth in community development. Through the “Yamuna-Purity: Draupadi’s Legacy Revived” project, we aim to clean and beautify 12 ghats in Delhi, promote proper waste disposal, and engage the community through technology. Our goal is to safeguard the river’s purity, preserve cultural heritage, and foster environmental sustainability, creating positive change for future generations.
