She is the daughter of Lois Treacy and actor Richard Schaal, and was formerly the stepdaughter of Valerie Harper. Schaal is primarily known for her voice acting work, most notably providing the voice of Francine Smith on the animated television series American Dad!. Her career spans both live-action and voice acting roles in film and television. Schaal comes from a family with entertainment industry connections through her father's acting career and her stepmother's work in television and theater.
