Tim Roth
Biography
Timothy Simon Roth, born May 14, 1961, in Lambeth, London, is an English actor and director. He gained early recognition in television productions such as Made in Britain (1982) and Meantime (1983). Roth received a BAFTA nomination for Most Promising Newcomer for his film debut in The Hit (1984). A key figure among the “Brit Pack” of British actors, he earned a BAFTA Award for his performance in Rob Roy (1995), along with nominations for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. Known for his versatility, Roth has worked with directors including Quentin Tarantino and appeared in films such as The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) and Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1990). His ability to mimic accents often leads to him being mistaken for an American actor. Roth’s father, Ernie, was a journalist, and his mother, Ann, worked as a teacher and landscape painter.
