Stan Lee, born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 28, 1922 in New York City, New York, was an American comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer. He began his career at Timely Comics, which later became Marvel Comics, and rose through its ranks to become Marvel’s creative leader for two decades. During his tenure he helped expand Marvel from a small publishing division into a multimedia corporation that later dominated comics and film. In collaboration with co‑writers and artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, Lee co‑created iconic characters including Spider‑Man, the X‑Men, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Ant‑Man, the Wasp, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther and Daredev.
