Sean McClory, also known as Sean Joseph McClory, was an actor born in Dublin, Ireland, on March 8, 1924, and he spent his early life in Galway. He was the son of Hugh Patrick, an architect and civil engineer, and Mary Margaret Ball, who had been a model. He joined Dublin's Abbey Theater, also known as the National Theater of Ireland, and rose through the ranks performing in works by authors such as William Butler Yeats and George Bernard Shaw. He primarily played leads in comedies through the 1940s and into the 1950s before turning his attention toward film when comedies began to fade from the theater following World War II. McClory died on December 10, 2003, at the age of 79.
