Biography
Russell Ira Crowe, born April 7, 1964, is a New Zealand actor and film director. He spent part of his childhood in Australia and settled there permanently by age 21. Crowe began his acting career in Australia, gaining early recognition for his breakout role in Romper Stomper (1992). He achieved international acclaim in the late 1990s with starring roles in L.A. Confidential (1997) and The Insider (1999). His portrayal of the title character in Gladiator (2000) earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor, along with two Golden Globe Awards and a British Academy Film Award.
