Brian Edward Cox, OBE, is a British particle physicist, Royal Society University Research Fellow, and professor at the University of Manchester. Born on March 3, 1968, in Oldham, Lancashire, England, UK, he is also known as Professor Brian Cox and Prof. Brian Cox. He is a member of the High Energy Physics group at the University of Manchester and works on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, near Geneva, Switzerland. He is also involved in the R and D project of the FP420 experiment, which is part of an international collaboration to upgrade the ATLAS and CMS experiments by installing additional smaller detectors at a distance of 420 metres from the interaction points of the main experiments.
