Stephen Hawking
Biography
Stephen William Hawking was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author. He served as the Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge. His scientific contributions included a collaboration with Roger Penrose regarding gravitational singularity theorems within the framework of general relativity. Hawking is noted for the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, a phenomenon frequently referred to as Hawking radiation. He was the first to propose a theory of cosmology that combined the general theory of relativity with quantum mechanics. Additionally, Hawking was a supporter of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. He was born on January 8, 1942, and passed away on March 14, 2018.
