Marisa Tomei is an American actress born on December 4, 1964. She gained prominence for her comedic performance in My Cousin Vinny, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She received further nominations in the category for In the Bedroom and The Wrestler. Tomei's early appearances were in the soap opera As the World Turns and the sitcom A Different World. Her other notable films include Chaplin, The Paper, What Women Want, and The Ides of March. She has a brother, actor Adam Tomei, and her parents are of Italian descent.
