Francis Luke Askew was an American actor and musician born on March 26, 1932, in Macon, Georgia. He was the son of Milton Dillard Askew and Dorothy Doolittle. Askew made his film debut in the 1967 movie Hurry Sundown, directed by Otto Preminger, and gained attention for his role in the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke. He appeared in The Green Berets in 1968 and Easy Rider in 1969, working alongside Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper. He is known for his appearances in Western films and roles in Mission: Impossible and Tales of the Gold Monkey. Askew died on March 29, 2012, at the age of 80 in Portland, Oregon.
