Walker, Texas Ranger is an American action crime television series that aired on the CBS network from September 25, 1993, to May 19, 2001. Created by Leslie Greif and Paul Haggis, the program was inspired by the film Lone Wolf McQuade and starred Chuck Norris in the lead role. The series spanned eight seasons and 198 episodes, gaining recognition for its moralistic style. The show follows Cordell Walker, a modern-day Texas Ranger whose independent crime-solving methods are rooted in the traditions of the Old West. He works alongside a rookie Ranger named James Jimmy Trivette, an ex-football player who utilizes modern technology like computers and cellular phones. Walker is supported by his closest friend, C.D. Parker, a retired Ranger who operates a saloon and restaurant called C.D.'s.
