Kurt Vogel Russell is an American actor born on March 17, 1951, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Raised in Thousand Oaks, California, he is the son of dancer Louise Julia Russell and actor Bing Russell. He is of English, German, Scottish, and Irish descent. Throughout his career, he has appeared in 148 known credits. Beyond his professional work, he has been in a relationship with Goldie Hawn since 1983. Russell began his career as a child actor before transitioning into a wide variety of adult roles across multiple genres, including action adventures, science fiction, westerns, romance, comedy, and family dramas. He remains a recognized figure in the American film and television industry.

Kurt Russell began his acting career at age 12, appearing in the Western television series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters, which aired from 1963 to 1964. In the late 1960s, he signed a ten-year contract with The Walt Disney Company. During this period, he starred as the character Dexter Riley in several films, including The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes in 1969, Now You See Him, Now You Don't in 1972, and The Strongest Man in the World in 1975. According to Robert Osborne of Turner Classic Movies, Russell became the studio's top star of the 1970s.

In 1979, Russell portrayed rock and roll superstar Elvis Presley in the television project Elvis. For this performance, he received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. As his career progressed, he successfully transitioned from his early work as a child actor into leading roles in adult cinema. His filmography spans diverse genres, encompassing action, science fiction, westerns, romance, comedy, and family dramas.
