John Crawford
Biography
John Crawford, born Cleve Richardson on September 13, 1920, in Colfax, Washington, was a rugged character actor known for portraying tough or villainous roles. During a career spanning more than 40 years, he appeared in over 200 film and television productions. After being discovered by a Warner Bros. scout while studying drama at the University of Washington, Crawford initially failed a screen test. He later worked as a laborer at RKO and built sets for the Circle Theater in Los Angeles, where he eventually secured acting roles. He was subsequently signed to Columbia Pictures, where he performed in secondary roles for western films. Crawford remained a consistent presence in the entertainment industry throughout his long professional tenure.
